My virtual services are available to anyone located in California.
I cannot provide services to people located outside of California (even if it's just for vacation). This is because every state has their own licensing requirements for therapists and I am only licensed in CA.

My preferred method is email, or if you’re an existing client, to use the client portal.

My fee structure is a community support model which allows me to maintain lower fees for less-resourced members of our community. Please choose the fee which is best in line with your financial situation. My fee range is from $175 - $225 for a 50 minute session. Fee is due at time services are rendered.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who donʼt have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

I’m not taking insurance.
However, I am able to take clients looking to use out-of-network benefits through their PPO. I will provide a "superbill", which is an itemized invoice, that you then can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I will not engage directly with your insurance provider.
Why don’t you take insurance?
The biggest issue I have with insurance is that they interfere with treatment. Insurance will only pay for services if the symptoms meet "medical necessity". However, the experience of suffering is not always captured by medically defined diagnoses. Also, sometimes it happens that insurance won't pay because of a technicality or other reasons, and then the client has to pay out of pocket. This is a terrible surprise and causes problems for both the client as well as myself.
By avoiding insurance I'm able to focus on my client's and their needs, rather than jumping through hoops to help make sure I get compensated.
I do try to mitigate this though, because I know therapy is not affordable for many people. This is why I provide my sliding scale, and I provide "super bills" so that people with out-of-network benefits can get reimbursed at least part of the cost.

Practice Policies
Every therapist has their own Practice Policies which outlines their expectations for clients and the therapeutic relationship. Below are my policies which I provide to clients during intake.

Please remember to cancel or reschedule 48 hours in advance. You will be responsible for a $100 fee if cancellation is less than 48 hours.
Sessions are typically scheduled to occur once per week for 50 minutes on the same day at the same time, if possible. I may suggest a different amount or frequency of therapy depending on the nature and severity of your concerns. Your consistent attendance can greatly contribute to a successful therapy outcome. To cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify me at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment. If you do not provide me with at least 48 hoursʼ notice of a cancellation, I will charge you $100 for the missed session. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. I will offer options to reschedule if Iʼm able, however I cannot guarantee the ability to reschedule. The fee is waived if you are rescheduled and seen within the same week.
If you are late for a session you may lose some of that session time. Sessions are not prorated. If you are more than 15 minutes late then the session will be counted as a “no show” and you will be charged the $100 cancellation fee.
If you are using insurance, please be aware that your insurance company will not pay for missed or canceled sessions. Accordingly, you will be responsible for covering the cost of missed sessions and sessions canceled within 48 hours of the scheduled session.
If there is a standing balance, the appointment will be canceled/rescheduled until the balance has been paid.

Unfortunately, I may not be able to treat you while you are physically outside of the state of California. My ability to do so depends on various factors, such as the laws of the jurisdiction you will be traveling to. If you know you will be traveling outside of the state, please provide me with as much advance notice as possible so I may have enough time to determine whether I will be able to provide treatment to you during that time.
If I am unable to treat you while you are outside of California, we can discuss alternative care options and strategies as well as what you should do in the event of an emergency.

My preferred method is email, or if you’re an existing client, to use the client portal.
I cannot ensure the confidentiality of any form of communication through electronic media, including text messages. However, the client portal I use is HIPAA-compliant to ensure privacy. For this reason, communication via the portal is my preferred method of communicating.
If you prefer to communicate via phone or personal email address, I will do so. I will attempt to return your message within 24 business hours, however it might take me longer to respond to an email, text, or phone call. If you choose to communicate via personal email or text, I request that you do not use these methods of communication to discuss therapeutic content as these are not HIPAA-compliant.
-
If you would like to contact me in-between sessions to discuss a non-urgent issue, such as scheduling or payment, please do so during my normal business hours of: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 am until 3 pm; Monday and Friday from 9 am until 12 pm, excluding national holidays.
Please understand that I may be in session with other patients or addressing other matters when you attempt to reach me. If you send or leave me a message, I will respond as soon as I am available, but please be aware that I may respond to your communication up to 72 hours after receiving your message.

Due to the importance of your confidentiality and the importance of minimizing dual relationships, I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc). I believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. If you have questions about this, please bring them up when we meet and we can talk more about it.

Ending relationships can be difficult. Therefore, it is important to have a termination process in order to achieve some closure. The appropriate length of the termination depends on the length and intensity of the treatment. I may terminate treatment after appropriate discussion with you and a termination process if I determine that the psychotherapy is not being effectively used or if you are in default on payment. I will not terminate the therapeutic relationship without first discussing and exploring the reasons and purpose of terminating. If therapy is terminated for any reason or you request another therapist, I will provide you with a list of qualified psychotherapists to treat you. You may also choose someone on your own or from another referral source.
Should you fail to schedule an appointment for three consecutive weeks, unless other arrangements have been made in advance, for legal and ethical reasons, I must consider the professional relationship discontinued.
